Whether you are planning a production for 400 or an intimate gathering for 30, the Uptown Theater can accommodate your special event with endless configurations that highlight our eclectic and retro venue. The Uptown Theater underwent a $5 million renovation by the City of Grand Prairie in 2008 that preserved its retro charm but added modern touches to bring the venue into the twenty-first century. The Uptown Theater is the perfect combination of 1950s glam and modern luxury.
Uptown’s Art Deco design makes this facility the perfect venue for a unique event, with neon lights that outline the stage and side murals. The 402 seats feature 8 loveseats similar to those in the original 1950 construction.
Our proscenium stage includes:
- Updated LED lights
- Brand new cyclorama
- Traveler curtain
- Main curtain on an automated track
- Loading dock
- Backstage space for storage
- Drop down screen and projector
The theater also has a comfortable green room and four spacious dressing rooms.

The Studio Theater includes:
- Lighting grid

This space also features a mirrored wall with ballet barre for dance recitals or performances. When added to the rental of the Uptown Theater and Lobby, this space serves as a great room for dancing.
Uptown Theater’s lobby can fit 100-150 for a seated dinner with our 8-top round tables. We also have original brick wall that spans the entire lobby to display different art from artists in the community. Our concessions stand is located in the lobby and has a full bar that includes a variety of wine, beer, and liquor options.
