Strong Wings Fly

Drawing on letters and speeches from Americans such as Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass along with selections from SPOON RIVER ANTHOLOGY and numerous firsthand accounts, the new musical STRONG WINGS FLY is a humorous, inspiring and gripping production that shatters the myths about the building of America in the 19th century. This highly theatrical show jumps into the hearts and minds of pioneers struggling for freedom, falling in love, revealing hidden shames and fighting to triumph. The script is rated PG-13. The score features songs from the 1800’s such as the rousing production numbers When “Johnny Comes Marching Home” or “Old Dan Tucker” and “I’m a Yankee Doodle Dandy” as well as original songs. The musical opens with a fiddler playing a lively country reel dance number featuring a cast of 30. The band is highlighted by mandolin, harmonica, banjo, drums, keyboards and percussion. The show was created by Kevin Cook, Director of Education, for Dallas Summer Musicals Academy and Denis Kashoid, DSM Academy Musical Director. Kevin describes the show as “Epic tales of pioneers who become as strong as eagles that fly.” Strong Wings Fly will be presented April 30, 2016, 1:30 and 3:45pm, Uptown Theater, 120 E. Mains St., Grand Prairie. General admission is $10, $5 for students and seniors. For more information, visit or call the box office at (972)237-8786.
