The Pirates are Invading the Prairie
Ibidis Mortem Productions is proud to announce the Pirates on the Prairie VI concert, taking place Sat, February 11th at 6:00 p.m. at the Uptown Theater in Grand Prairie, TX. It’s going to be an evening of pirate music, swashbuckling fun, and nautical nonsense for the whole family. The concert stars the official pirate band of Grand Prairie, the Bilge Pumps, in an event to appeal to everyone’s inner buccaneer. Joining them on stage will be the Pride of Bedlam from Houston, TX, who will open the show with their own brand of pirate hijinks and music. Also appearing will be their pirate poetry dispensing shipmates, the Seadog Slam, who will be entertaining everyone with salty rhymes in the lobby.
The event will take place at the Uptown Theater, located at 120 E. Main Street in downtown Grand Prairie. Lobby doors will open at 5:00 p.m., theater doors at 5:30, then the Pride of Bedlam at 6:00, followed by the fun-drenched music and comedy of the Bilge Pumps starting at 7:15.
Admission will be $12.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 5-12. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling the Uptown Box Office at 972-237- 8786, at the theater on the day of the event, or by visiting thebilgepumps.com.
The Bilge Pumps are a pirate music group who specialize in performances that combine nautical songs, sea shanties, and Celtic music with a huge dose of silly comedy.
The group performs larger than life in their pirate outfits with a variety of instruments backing up their bellowing voices. They have been in demand all over the country for their goofy stage antics as they take nautical music and add their own spin on it.
The Pride of Bedlam is Houston’s preeminent pirate band and has been entertaining nautical music lovers since 2007. They were recently awarded “Favorite Band” in the 2016 International Pirate Awards. Their repertoire consists of original pirate music, traditional sea shanties, drinking songs, with a bit of rock sensibilities.
